The vehicle has a fire protection pad. When the fuel tank was replaced, the dealer removed the pad to give the tank more room to expand. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 16,381.

The engine case has 2 severe cracked in the place where the frame mounts to the engine. This is common with the s2r and st3 because of a design flaw in frame design adding increased pressure to that part of the engine case.
Gas tank has expanded to such a point that the latch securing the tank to the body can no longer function. The gas tank could become loose while the vehicle is in motion causing an accident.
