What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The auxiliary fuel pump module located under rear seat will leak fuel into the cab, causing a strong smell of gasoline after filling up. Gas will actively leak out from pressurization and form a puddle of gas that sits on top of plastic module.
While parked at a gas station, she saw smoke coming from the hood. The contact stated she tried to open the hood but the latch was melted and failed to open. The fire department extinguished the fire and filed a report. The contact mentioned that the entire front end of the vehicle was damaged due to the fire.
Shop has replaced the power steering pump twice and the power steering still locks up and is hard to turn. This occurs daily on patrol. Vehicle is currently off the road due to this being a safety issue.
Power steering unit failed on highway while turning into rest stop.
Fuel pump electrical connector keeps burning the fuel pump plastic at the electrical connectors and causes a fuel leak into the car cabin, under the rear seat. Replaced burned fuel pump 3 times and is burned up again and leaking fuel within six months.
While replacing the fuel tank for a crack (of unknown origin) examined the fuel pump. On the side of the pump, inside the tank, a brown heating mark was found in the roof of the pump, where the black and yellow wires pass through the body.
