What owners report

I have a 1992 dodge colt vista that while driving will shutdown. Sometimes it takes a couple minutes and you can restart the car, other times it takes a day. This problem does not happen every day, sometimes you can drive for a month with out it happening.
Also, the children get headaches when the door is shut and windows are up due to fumes getting in the vehicle.
5 sp-transmission; intermittently while driving vehicle will lose traction/power and may return. Please describe details. Tt
