What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Was riding the motorcycle around a mild curve and it began to wobble. This has happened a few times and doesnt require a sharp turn to occur. Feels like a stability problem and/an engineering defect. Ive riddin motorcycles my entire adult life and this is the first ive ever experienced this type of issue.
While driving approximately 55 mph, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The contact had to downshift the front brake in order to decelerate the vehicle. The motorcycle was not diagnosed. The contact noticed that the brake line fractured and fluid was leaking. The vehicle was not repaired.
I was doing 70 (mph) east hwy 52 and I heard a loud pop and my motorcycle (h-d) started going out of control. I thought it was a rear wheel blow-out, I was lucky to keep it undercontrol and pulled over to the shoulder next to the #1 lane. A friend was riding behind me on his h-d and saw the whole thing.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 harley davidson dyna low rider motorcycle. The contact stated that after the engine had been running for a while, the vehicle failed to restart once it was shut off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the compensator needed to be replaced.
When the front brake was applied a clunk was heard and felt. Upon inspection the front brake rotor disk was shifting under the bolt heads that secure it to the rim. Torque value was verified to be within limits iaw the harley davidson maintenance manual. To find the problem requires two people.
Complaint regarding the sale of new and used harley davidson motorcycle with red turn signals vs the usual orange yellow warning signals. I almost collided with a 2008 harley davidson dyna fat boy recently, the small red signal was not at all visible when he turned in front of me without even using his brake lights.
