What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The reporter is asking if there has there been a recall issued for 2021 Hyundai Velosters regarding seatbelt problems and if NHTSA has any alerts or warnings regarding the 2021 Veloster. Lastly, she asked if NHTSA has any tips on how people can protect themselves and ensure their seatbelts are functioning properly.
Power steering has been going out intermittently. The first time was about a week ago at a light. One of my mechanics suggested it could be a battery going out, and wouldn’t you know it? My battery went out a couple days later.
The contact stated that the left-side cable had popped off, and the vehicle rolled back while in first gear. There was low compression in the engine. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V528000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that a compression test was performed.
While making a low speed turn (10mph) the LKA icon (black panel) and failure alert (center screen) appeared on the meter, then immediately after the power steering icon (black panel) and failure alert (center screen) appeared on the meter.
The power steering motor fails at random and without warning, creating an imminent wreck hazard. At any time, the wheel will lose all power steering and simultaneously illuminate a red steering wheel warning on your dashboard. It takes significant force to turn the wheel once this happens.
There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to obtain the parts from an independent parts supplier. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the caliper seals were ordered but were the incorrect part. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired.
