What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Front and rear wheels locked on application of brakes. Abs system not functional. Motorcycle fell over injuring rider and damaging motorcycle.
As I applied the front brakes the motorcycle front brake lever pulsated and started to vibrate so badly that the handle bars shook and as I slow the front end dipped in time with the brake lever pulsation indicative of warped brake rotors.
The effect was most disconcerting during light braking in corners (it severely altered the feel of the motorcycle during cornering) but also affected heavy straight-line braking, making the bike shudder. The pulsing was evident for the remainder of my trip (1500 miles).
When owners complained
NHTSA complaints by filing year. The peak shows at what age the problems show up most.
What to check before buying
- Service brakes. Pedal feel, ABS operation, leaks, discs and hoses.
