What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained a rib injury that required medical attention. A police report was not filed.
Upon entering ga 400 northbound from us 285 west in atlanta, I struck an object in the roadway resulting in a delayed blowout approximately 30 seconds later on the front left tire. This resulted in loss of control of my vehicle causing it to pull hard to the left.
In past two brake failures. Third failure caused accident and damage to the truck. Ford is not responsive to my complaints about this problem. The truck is dangerous and should not be on the road. We know there are a lot of other abs failures in the ford product line.
While driving on the expressway, multiple system warning lights suddenly appeared on the dash with the message 'engine failsafe mode'. The engine immediately shut off and I lost power steering and power brakes while moving at highway speed. I was able to coast to the shoulder and the truck would not restart.
The two original vehicle dome lights in the overhead console assembly, ford part no.:4l3z-18519a70-bag, have melted the plastic parts within the assembly increasing the chance of a fire.
The truck's transmission shutters, so the whole truck vibrates. This is a huge safety issue. It causes the truck to slow down and overdrive does not kick in. So you have to slow down and force the truck to shift. This is a 5.4 triton motor. I did change the plugs and coil packs. This job is not cheap.
Unable to do standard maintenance by replacing 100,000 spark plugs early. Took the vehicle to the ford dealer, they advised me $1000 if they did not break any plugs. After refusing the repair and paying $150 for diagnosis I magically have a broken plug.
