What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
We thought that our car was burning out the rear bulbs really fast or that there was a short. Turns out that when we took it in for repairs to the balance shaft, we found out that there is indeed a short in the harness. Apparently, the c-class is not the only model having this problem.
While driving car the check engine light came on and started running very rough. I took it to the dealer where they told me it was some sort of balance shaft/cam gear problem. They said it was a terrible design flaw that affected many, many cars. They said driving it was risky.
What I thought was a bug biting my rear side, ending up being the seat on fire! I had turned on the seat warmer and not even a minute or two later, the wire in the seat was on fire when I pulled over and left a hole in my seat. Car is not under warranty anymore and I feel as though I should not have to pay for this.
