What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The contact stated while driving 60 mph the abs light came on and the brakes began to malfunction causing the vehicle to have shorter stopping distance. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the brakes and they informed the contact to take the vehicle to a local dealer.
The brakes locked up causing the vehicle to smoke which remained stationary so that it could cool down. The failure occurred six months after the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified and recommended that force be applied to the brakes with a screwdriver.
The power assist for the braking system is run off the power steering pump and should you lose the serpentine belt or the engine shuts down there is a redundant electric motor to provide power assist tot the brakes. But, should you lose both you have no brakes per si on a 26,000 motor home.
