I have noticed the tv show "overhaulin'" repeatedly removes the d.o.t. Required side marker lights required since 1968. The latest one was season 8 episode 8. If this practice is not illegal it should be.
The inner sleeve is out of specification and does not have a press fit to the stub shaft. This is a design flaw and could result in lower control arm separation in case of a torsion bar failure. The manufacturer is coni seal and the parts are imported from turkey.
