What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
While attempting to drive the vehicle, the brakes failed to engage when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the front brake master cylinder failed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing.
In the event of an accident, the tank could more easily be separated from the motorcycle frame, leading to a fire and an increased risk of injuries or death of the rider, as well as posing an increased risk to first responders and bystanders.
Plastic (pa6) oem fuel tank has expanded in size and bolt hole securing it to the frame no longer line up correctly.
The nylon/plastic fuel tank has started to show signs of warping and deformation. This issue has been highly speculated to be caused by phase separation/e10 fuel related causes which attract environmental moisture into the fuel and tank and ultimately cause deformation.
Fuel tank showing signs of expansion. Bubbles visible, and it has grown in size to the point where the bolt holes do not line up. No history of accidents or misuse of the vehicle, stored indoors away from sunlight. Potential explosion or burst hazard.
Dt*: the contact stated while depressing the hand brake control on the motorcycle it went all the way down to the handle bar. This occurred intermittently. The motorcycle was taken to the dealer who bled the brakes and adjusted the calipers however the problem persisted.
