What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Exact same concern as the report listed in complaint 10554076. The tank, once removed from bike, loses shape and cannot be re-installed without *extreme* and excessive force. Prior to removing the tank, I noted that the tank was straining the three mounting bushings on the frame.
There is an existing recall on this model and several others for the plastic fuel connectors, defect investigation pe03053 / nhtsa campaign id number: 04v156000. My 2004 sprint rs, which had the recall work done, was parked for extensive, unrelated, work, when a friend with a triumph daytona came over.
When doing maintenance on my triumph, I take off the gas tank. So after doing my maintenance or repairs, the bolt up front and the two bolts in back of tank do not align up with holes. It seems the tank has swollen or has gotten bigger.
