What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
I recently experienced a motorcycle fire likely caused by the recall issue while starting my morning commute. I was lucky enough to notice the smoke shortly after leaving my home just before getting on the freeway. I was wearing a helmet camera and I have included the youtube video of the event below.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 triumph street triple 675. While driving various speeds, the front right turn signal failed to operate without warning. The contact veered to the shoulder of the road and noticed that a bolt was fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred two times.
Transmission gearchange shaft broken at engine c clip. Left stranded in neutral.
Therefore it did not charge the battery and caused it to stall in traffic several times. Not safe at all. The motorcycle stalled while riding thru a tunnel in traffic.
I was riding my motorcycle when it suddenly died. I couldn't restart it. My buddy brought an ohms tester and said the battery wasn't being charged. We had the vehicle dropped off at a dealership for maintenance.
The blinker stems for both the right and left blinker broke and the blinkers dangle by their cables. This may make the signals un-seeable to on-coming traffic. There was a recall for this issue for the 2012 models but not for my vin series.
