Hello; I contacted the yamaha corporation about this problem at their corporate headquarters in cypress, california. Twice, I tried to get the problem taken care of. First contact was [xxx], then [xxx], 04-10-2015.
My mechanic has diagnosed the problem as the fuel system being entirely rusted out, the fuel tank, fuel filter, and assembly. I contacted yamaha corporation and they will do nothing about it. The recall says this problem can result in death this is not right at all, and I just purchased this from a second party.
In warm weather, fuel pump fails after getting hot. Today, after a 20 minute ride at interstate speeds, I arrived at my destination. The ambient temperature was around 75 degrees. After 2 hours, ready to return, I tried to start the scooter, no joy.
I am aware of a problem with fuel pump failure and consequent engine stalling in yamaha motorcycle model wr250r and wr250x, model year 2008. This problem has been addressed by a recall in japan on this model (as well as other models using this pump assembly). At this time, I see no complaints listed on your website.
