The fire department had to extract me from the passenger side door as my driver's side door was jammed shut. Both the driver's door and the rear door on that side cannot be opened, rendering the car undriveable and necessitating towing from the crash scene.
The airbags did not deploy. At the time of the crash, the vehicle was subject to an unrepaired federal safety recall involving the airbag control unit (ZF-TRW ACU recall). I experienced soreness following the crash. No airbags deployed.

The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH, another vehicle struck the driver's side front door, causing the seat belt to forcefully retract inward on his chest. The air bags were deployed upon impact. The contact received medical attention for his chest pain and was diagnosed with two hernias.
it seems the steering failed with this incident. the car was totaled no there were no lights on at the time. i was making a right turn after a complete stop. the steering would not straighten out.
The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine revved and the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier while turning into a parking space. The contact was not able to depress the brake pedal in time to stop the vehicle.
