What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
While stopped in my 1995 chevrolet silverado 4 wheel drive pickup (short bed, step side) I was re-ended by an suv (pathfinder) doing approximately 45mph. The truck bed crashed into the cab and and dented it. The driver seat broke, frame bent, etc. The airbag did not deploy.
While driving at 50 mph steering went out. Consumer could turn steering wheel, but vehicle kept straight into a pole. The air bag did not deploy duringthe accident, and the consumer was injured.
Made panic stop to avoid truck pulling hay wagon, abs light came on, front brakes locked up, rear brakes didnt work, hit truck, examined rear brakes, shoes show no sign of wear since truck was new, have replaced front pads once.
Consumer was involved in a frontal collision in which the driver's air bag did not deploy. Also, the air bag light did not illuminate, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
Upon impact, driver's side air bag didn't deploy, and the steering wheel was bent.
While driving, the hood latch support failed and the hood flew up.
While driving on local road brakes failed, had to downshift and use emergency brake to stop truck. I found out after investigating, that the brake lines had rusted so badly that the hydraulic pressure blew out the brakeline to the front driverside wheel.
Through normal operation my seat on the driver side just broke at the framing under neat the seat. I feel this is a safety problem with the manufactures as the metal used is very thin and so it broke.
