What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Collision warning failed to warn driver and automatic emergency braking failed to engage, causing an accident.
This is the second incident of "phantom braking" I have experienced with this car. The first incident was within the first year of owning it driving on a 35 MPH road when it mistakenly thought a car was veering into our lane (oncoming traffic) -- in this case the phantom braking was brief and did not bring the vehicle…
The principal defect involves the rear-view backup camera, which has repeatedly failed despite multiple repair attempts and three new cameras. I bought a used EUV on 12/14/24 with around 25000 miles and on 6/6/25 at 31730 miles it went in for the first attempt to fix the camera.
1) What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - When a car stopped in front of us suddenly, the brakes on the car did not fully stop the car and continued to skid even when the break was pushed all the way down.
The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was unhurt. The contact had taken the vehicle to a collision repair shop. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
When the front of my car was in the space and I was completing my turn, I lifted my foot from the accelerator, and the car suddenly lurched forward at high speed. Before I could recover, the car crashed into a high concrete curb that marked the end of the parking space.
