What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Brake lines rusted out, resulting in total loss of brakes while in motion. Total loss of brake fluid. Vehicle had to be towed - all brake lines replaced, as well as fuel lines rusted out.
Front passenger wheel bearing assembly failed at 33,000 with an out of pocket cost to me of $300. This is on a 2001 chevrolet silverado extended cab. There were no consequences of the failure as I had it replaced. However the consequences could be life threatening should repairs not be performed in time.
Engine knock gm claims can not be fixed, have now many times hard start or complete shut down of engine when driving, hed to steer to pull over. Truck need to cool down then restarted.
Accelerator pedal sticks when stepping on it to move forward and then when it releases the vehicle lurches forward. This happens on both our 2001 chevy suburban and our 2001 chevy silverado almost all the time.
