What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
During the last major snow storm I noticed what I thought was a brake failure after talking to a coworker he said that sometimes a lot of snow can mess with the brakes. His explanation seemed logical. On 4/17/10 I was driving down the road and started coasting towards traffic that just started moving.
Tl contact owns a 2007 dodge nitro 4x4. The contact stated that upon entering a parking space she experienced unwarranted accleration;that caused her to crash into the fence and tree. There was not a floormat/ pedal interference noted. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility. A police report was filed.
- vehicle delay when pulling out or backing up, then with out notice surge. - driving up large hill, coming up on tractor and trailer ahead, doing 45 mph, left off gas slightly to adjust speed went to resume speed there was no response, no power, lights did not come on dash and engine had not cut out.
While driving at 30 mph the 2007 dodge nitro 4x4 stalled as I was entering a right hand curve. The electrical system and power to the vehicle turned off without any warning and I could not turn the steering wheel to avoid an embankment. The vehicle came to rest on its left side as it rolled off the embankment.
Fuel tank overflows every time that we fill the tank. When the gas is filled, the nozzle is fully inserted in the tank and will not automatically shut-off spilling gas everywhere until I manually stop the nozzle.
Door locks in operable, neither fob nor button works, keyfob locks but not unlock vehicle not diagnosed neither dealer nor manufacturer contacted while attempting to unlock the vehicle, the keyfob failed.
