What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Driving under normal conditions a brake failure due to abs malfunction, called the gmc number and they said that while they have the problem on record ,it cant be fixed unless I pay out of poket expenses due to there policy limits complaints on this problem tobe repaired by the dealer up to 2002.
Brakes fail at all speeds, occurs mostly when streets are wet, on 4-10-01, consumer was traveling about 15 mph when he applied brake pedal to stop for a red light, however brakes failed causing a collision with a bus, consumer states recalls 99i006 and 99v193 have been complete, however have not remedied the problem,…
The sliding was intense and the smoke so thick that I thought my vehicle engine was on fire. I felt at the time that the abs system had malfunctioned, and I mentioned this to the police officer at the scene. When I took the vehicle to the local gmc dealer for collision repairs, I asked them to check the brake system.
And had gauges checked gas gauge not reading true, next week or so window wipers start acting up and stopping mid- window and wiper fluid wont spray.
Driver's air bag did not deploy upon impact. Had some injuries & bruises. No emergency room treatment. Inadequate brakes contributed to the severity of the collision.
Consumer is extremely glad that she was wearing a seat belt. Had she not been wearing a seat belt, the collision was such that she most likely would have been thrown through the windshield since the air bag did not deploy.
55-60 mph when she skidded about 25 feet and crashed into the back of car and the air bag did not deploy. Consumer was injured . Consumer stated seat belt snapped and she hit steering wheel, consumer sustained injuries due to accident.
Stopped at local restaurant, ignition would not turn off and we were unable to remove the key. At this time, the vehicle is not driveable at all. We are unable to start or shut off the vehicle. The vehicle is not recognizing that the key is in the ignition. All dash lights are on, brakes do not work.
