What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
On XXX, I was driving my 2022 GMC Yukon XL Denali equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 engine, with my [XXX] stepson as a passenger, when the engine malfunctioned and stalled, leaving the vehicle disabled in traffic.
On August 17th, 2026 while approaching a nature preserve entrance at approximately 1 mph, my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate suddenly accelerated on its own, without the driver pressing the accelerator pedal, striking a split-rail fence and a tree. Airbags did not deploy.
Airbags did not deploy. A car run a red light. I hit it on its passenger side. I was going about 45mph before the crash. I did slam my breaks before impact but I would guess I was still going 30-35mph at impact. Car has not been inspected yet. It is still in our possession. We have made in insurance claim.
On August 9th at 5:30PM roughly, while attempting to park using the vehicle’s Park Assist feature, the system failed to function properly—specifically, it failed to detect a pole at the rear of a parking space, did not slow or brake the vehicle, and was not even aware it would contact the pole.
On another occasion while driving and coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled, and a "transmission unable to shift" message appeared. The gear selector was placed in park (P), and the vehicle was restarted, after which it drove normally.
The 2022 Yukons were sold without certain parking sensors installed, with the promise of a retrofit as soon as the sensors were available. I purchased this vehicle in May 2022, and am still waiting on a parking sensor retrofit.
