What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
I thought I must have run over something causing the blowout. Changed the tire and continued on. At approximately 100 miles down the road the second goodyear blew. This tire came apart identical to the first one. I pulled into a truck/tire shop and had them assess the situation.
While driving less than a mile, the rotors would heat up and smoke would appear from the side of the vehicle. The contact examined the brake chamber and noticed that it was full of water. The vehicle has not been to the dealer. The current mileage was 42,000 and failure mileage was 40,500. Updated 04/23/08.
Tl* - the contact has a 2005 monaco holiday rambler which is hard to steer straight on the road. Then contact stated that when driving the 30 feet motor home at 55 mph it became hard to steer. The road and weather conditions have not been a problem.
Dt: the contact took motor home to a dealership for recall 04v476000 repairs concerning the lpg water heater . The first and second time the contact took the motor home in to the dealership he was told there was no recall. The third time he took vehicle the dealership they repaired the motor home.
1) the first blowout happened only 10 minutes (!) into a trip in november 2003 on a cool rainy sunday afternoon on a highway in ontario driving at highway speeds. The service personnel commented in the large sidewall ?zipper blowout? And pointed out the brown discoloration (rust!) visible .
The vehicle's brakes became so hot that smoke was billowing from the rv and was also coming inside the rv. The rv's transmission failed. The 100 gallon fuel tank leaked.
