What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
While driving on a city street at approximately 40 mph the vehicle started making a loud noise (similar to the sound a dirt bike engine makes). The sound became loluder when I pressed the brakes. I took the vehicle to the repair shop and was notified that the hydrobooster failed resulting in a steering fluid leakage.
Driving thru a heavy rain storm at 50 mph in the left lane of a three lane highway and the windshield wipers stopped working at about a 1/4 of the way up...pulled over as soon as I could ...did not panic...
Now my check engine light is on showing an oxygen sensor failure or catalytic converter. After researching the internet this problem is affecting thousands of people. Something needs to be addressed !!
Front windshield wipers and washer operate on there own.
Transmission overheat condition occurs filling the inside of the vehicle with a toxic gas. Hot transmissions can also catch on fire. This is a known condition; gm issued an alert to dealership service departments but no recall has occurred.
Speedometer slowly stops working. Speed reading will decrease to zero while traveling at highway speeds & around town. At first happened periodically now happening more often.
While driving my 2005 h2 hummer in a rain storm the windshield washer motor came on and started spraying water and would not stop until the motor quit working. Thank god I did not wreck. After checking other sites and complaints this looks like a defect not only in 2003 models but 2005 models as well.
Brake pedal felt very hard and whining noise was coming from engine compartment. Vehicle slowly stopped after driver's full body weight was put on pedal. There was nothing under the brake pedal and the brake fluid level was checked and found to be appropriate.
