What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The rails are rusting out! What if no one caught this! I'm told that if it comes apart there's no controlling the truck! Kenworth tells me that they are changing frame rails all the time. This is evidence to me that they need to be made to do a factory recall on there truck's that apparently has shotty workmanship!
On my truck this plug device blew out, leaving a 1.5 inch-diameter hole in the exhaust side of the turbo. The hole in the turbo casing emitted raw toxic exhaust fumes directly into the engine compartment and cab. This discharge overheated adjacent electrical components on both sides of the firewall.
Tl* the contact owns a 1998 kenworth t2000. While driving at 55 mph, the rear of the vehicle failed to remain in position. The contact had to steer the vehicle in excess in order to keep the vehicle in position. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the lateral pins holding the suspension had shifted.
The contact stated that the fuel burning chamber malfunctioned and caused the check engine light to continuously illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the exhaust temperature sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure continued to occur.
