What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The rails are rusting out! What if no one caught this! I'm told that if it comes apart there's no controlling the truck! Kenworth tells me that they are changing frame rails all the time. This is evidence to me that they need to be made to do a factory recall on there truck's that apparently has shotty workmanship!
Left front drive axle brake chamber broken off and hanging by hoses. Studs broken out of base. Took to dealer and they replaced.
Lr brake chamber locked up and super single tire slid and then blew out. Service truck had to come and brake chamber was replaced. This replaced brake chamber is available at our warehouse. Update 10/01/08 the axle locked up. Updated 10/02/08.
Two brake assemblies broke off axles and failed to stop vehicle in safe stopping distance. This has happened to 6 other known incidents in the last 6 months. The brake assemblies have to be rewelded to the axles of the vehicles before they can be operated again safely.
While driving to dealer left rear wheel brake assembly on front drive axel broke off of axel. Had truck been loaded and not bob tailing at the time this could have caused and accident as the failure rendered the brake totally in operative.
