What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The front end of the vehicle was crushed including the windshield. The vehicle continued with the elk after collision dragging it a couple yards ahead. The air bags did not apply. No waring lights were illuminated. No police report was filed. The contact was the only passenger during the collision.
While maneuvering my Kia EV6 into my garage, the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly and struck the garage wall. I believe the acceleration may have been unintentional or due to a malfunction. I request review of any vehicle event data
The collision avoidance and emergency braking system should have stopped my car before impact but it did not. No sounds other than the normal backing up beeping. Proximity alert did not ping. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
There were no warning lights, sounds, or messages displayed on the car's gauge cluster display, either for the initial loss of propulsion or for the restoration of propulsion. This caused a loss of traction when the car eventually passed through a patch of packed snow and ice.
Most vehicles with ABS experience what I call “ABS shudder/jutter” when applying brakes across a road seam where the road surface is uneven or a rut in the road. In this particular case while applying the brakes across a long rut in the road, the “ABS shudder/jutter” was much worse.
I rolled the window down and heard them ask if I was ok , if I needed help calling 911, and then they began to insist that I climb down out of the car as they feared it would catch on fire. I did not understand what they meant initially, until I realized I was LOOKING DOWN at them.
