The contact was concern about the safety of the motorcycle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.
I was doing a yearly inspection of this motorcycle when I noticed the plastics had began to separate. After removing the plastics to try and reset their positions it was apparent that the fuel tank had become swollen and enlarged by approx 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch total.
The fuel tank expanded after only 1 year of operation, 3600 miles. The fuel tank has expanded to the point of resting on the exhaust and stretching the rear fender plastics apart.
