What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
My wife sustained injuries to her right hand & arm due to the tipping over of the vehicle and the shattering of the front passenger window glass, & was taken to a local hospital by ems ambulance. She will undergo hand surgery. The vehicle sustained serious body damage and was towed to a local towing yard.
While pulling out of a parking space, the engine raced and the consumer hit the vehicle parked opposite of her. The windshield was replaced because the heater was not working.
The driver and passenger air bags did not deploy, and the seat belts did not lock. Driver suffered hand and foot injuries. The front passenger was thrown forward fracturing the left eye orbit on the rear view mirror.
The vehicle immediately burst into flames and continued to burn until the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. Most of the vehicle and all personal belongings were lost in the fire.
I almost lost my life while driving at approximately 40 mph one sunday morning because the vehicle lost total control: steering wheel froze and the brake failed to work. One week after the vehicle was released from the dealer, the vehicle died in the middle of high way, causing major triffic jam.
While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and smoke filled the cabin. After stopping the vehicle, flames appeared under the hood. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired.
The contact planned to notify the manufacturer of the unintended acceleration. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
While driving less than 50 mph, the vehicle began making grinding noises during acceleration. While attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle made a loud noise and drove as if something dropped in the vehicle. She managed to pull off the road and turned off the vehicle.
