What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Vehicle: 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC Recall Reference: NHTSA Campaign #26V073 / High-Voltage Battery Fire Hazard My vehicle is subject to an active safety recall concerning internal high-voltage battery failure that poses a direct risk of a vehicle fire while driving or parked.
The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, a malfunction warning message indicated the vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was taken to multiple dealers, where it was confirmed that the parts were not available.
My vehicle battery overheated. The dealership was unable to identify the cause. I have since learned there is a battery recall on this make and model, and I believe the recall needs to be expanded to include my vehicle and the overheating was likely caused by the battery failing.
My 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC (VIN [XXX]) is subject to NHTSA Recall 26V073 / MBUSA campaign [phone] for a high-voltage battery defect that may cause a thermal event/fire while parked or driving.
The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to start for approximately five minutes. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the battery was at 80 percent and then fell to 50 percent extremely quickly. While charging the battery, the battery failed to fully charge.
The recall is classified as URGENT: FIRE RISK WHEN PARKED on NHTSA's website for my specific vehicle. On May 6-7, 2026 I contacted Mercedes customer service three times and received conflicting safety guidance. Agent 1 told me charging above 80% was acceptable and did not advise outdoor parking.
