What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
2012 mercedes s550. Consumer states vehicle slid backwards in parking lot the consumer stated the safety issue was regarding the vehicle being put in the neutral position after turning off the engine. The consumer stated three weeks ago, he had the misfortune of parking his vehicle in a parking lot.
The frontal air bags did not deploy and the sos system did not engage. There were no reported injuries. A police report was available (sp1l15000802). The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and the current mileages were 8,000.
Mercedes benz s 500 had total brake failure. Vehicle has about 12,000 to 14,000 miles on it. Dealer is trying to blame brake failure on rust on rotors due to lack of use of vehicle. I don't think the manual warns about this. Sounds like a make up story to me.
Airbags in 1999 s500 mercedes failed to deploy in frontal collision with a utility pole at speed estimated between 15-25 mph. Driver was wearing his seat belt.
Vehicle was hit by a semi-truck on driver side throwing drivers head and body into side door/glass windows. No air bags deployed! Car was severely damaged and was repaired by farmers insurance repair. Air bags were not replaced!!!! Driver suffered upper body trauma, particularly rib cage. Total air bag failure.
In january 2006, after 10000 mi, a blowout on the highway 101 "grapevine". Was able to control the car, used spare to get home, and had the tire replaced due to tread separation.
