What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Car has been under recall for almost 2 years and they still have no resolution. They continue to say that they cannot predict when the air bags will be available
Takata recall, I have been notified that my vehicle contains the defective air bags however no solution has been provided and given the nature of the issue the vehicle is not safe to drive. I have been unable to drive this vehicle for over 18 months since we were first aware of the issue.
Takata recall: received recall notice from mercedes benz in february, but they have no replacement part at this time. I need the use of vehicle, but am afraid to use because of the recall. Mercedes benz is not doing anything for their customers as they are saying the car should be safe to drive.
Had the car in personal garage went to jack vehicle up with the mercedes benz jack and the plastic or rubber connector to the vehicle of the jack came off causing under vehicle damage and endangering my personal safety.
Went to change a flat and the trunk came down on my head and had to get several stitches. It seems like the trunk on the slk55 amg will stay up for a few seconds then collapse right when you lean into the trunk to get the spare making things go from bad to worse a flat and in need of medical attention.
While performing u-turn in light traffic, transmission would not shift into reverse, then would also not shift into drive, leaving vehicle immobilized in the middle of traffic.
