What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
This happened some time ago but I recently read of an investigation that you have undertaked and decided that this may be relevant. I also have seen service bulletins for this issue.
Power steering suddenly failed without warning and no prior symptoms. Sudden total loss of power assist while turning left caused major accident. Car was driven off the road into a brick retaining wall causing over $3,000 damage to the car plus $350 damage to the wall.
When making sudden stops vehicle swerved into the passing lane. Vehicle was involved in a collision in 1996.
(arthur blankeman on behalf of the driver terry geller) ( tire make/model, spectrum starfire, size 215/65 r16) also the air bags did not deploy.
The shocks and struts "fell off" therefor causing a flip over when the back right tire blew. The tire blew because the shocks and struts were rubbing against the tires, therefor, exposing the threads. (tiresize: p195/r14)( dot number: tire size: p195/r14 )
Upon impact, in a rear collosion, driver's seat collapsed into the rear seat, resulting in injuries.
