What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
While my grandson was driving my 1998 saturn sc2, another vehicle hit the car on the drivers' side and the airbags did not deployed.
She heard a loud popping noise and suddenly the wheels jerked to the left, sending her into a parked car. The left front wheel was subsequently unresponsive to steering. Upon evaluation by a mechanic, the front left spindle had snapped and also in the process had broken the left side tie rod. The parts were replaced.
I had my seat belt on , the air bags deployed. I hit the windshield with the top of my head and was knocked out. I am 5'7" and was sitting properly in the seat with both hands on the steering wheel at the time of the collision. I sustained neck and back injuries.
The loss of power steering and power brakes resulted in a loss of control of the vehicle. The car swerved into the right lane striking another motorist and then spun out of control making at least two full revolutions before coming to a rest against the guard rails of the median.
The seatbelt system failed to constrict my body to the car seat. The front air bag did not deploy. I suffered head, neck, and soft tissue damage to my shoulder and mid back area. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
I was stopped at a red light when hit from behind with enough force to push me into the vehicle in front of me. This resulted in major damage to the front of my vehicle. Neither the driver or passenger airbags deployed. With the force of the impact I felt the airbags should have deployed.
