What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the Pop Up Hood system deployed without contact with the animal. The Pop Up Hood system was designed to raise the hood automatically to absorb and reduce the impact energy on a pedestrian's head and chest. The hood could not be closed after deployment.
This has to do with the lane departure system. When on unmarked roads with the lane departure system turned off the car still pulls the car. Sometimes to the center of the road. The steering can be overcome by countering the departure system but we must be very vigilante so as to not let the car steer itself.
