While driving various speeds, the vehicle veered to the left and right and all the warning lights illuminated. In addition, while driving various speeds, a loud cracking noise emitted from the steering relay. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, but not repaired.
Airbag did not deploy in 30 mile/hour crash,brakes-abs system-has extended response time in the system, causing delay.
The air bag warning light had illuminated intermittently. The contact stated that there was no impact to the vehicle that could have caused the air bag to deploy. The contact sustained bruising to the left arm, chest, and stomach, but medical attention was not received.
The airbag hit me in the face, knocking off my glasses and producing terrible smell and smoke. My left cheek is bruised. The horn went off continually until I was able to turn off the road into another driveway and turn off the engine. There was no warning, no impact, no braking until it exploded.
A-arm suspension is very rusty with holes rusted through lower a-arms. Have been told by mechanics that it is not safe to drive without replacement. This has taken place over time. No breakage at this time.
Frame is rusting out. Excessive rust for the year. Advised by mechanic that truck is unsafe to drive. Truck is basically rotting in half. Toyota is recalling other trucks due to same problem with the frames but not this truck.
The contact noticed that the frame underneath the vehicle was rusted. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 198,000.
The contact stated that the entire frame was corroded. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for routine maintenance where the mechanic confirmed the failure. The mechanic then advised the contact to notify an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no recalls for the vehicle.
