What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Warning lights also turn on for no apparent reason such as parking, sensors, and other traction control. I am extremely concerned with my safety. I also believe the odometer has been altered to register higher mileage.
My vehicle was parked next to a fire hydrant and when i returned to the vehicle none of the warning cameras or alerts was able to pick up the object. There seems to be a glitch when the vehicle is turned completely off and then restarted with a small object in the blind spot.
During the crash, the air bags did not deploy and the collision avoidance system did not activate to prevent the crash from occurring. No injuries were reported. A police report was filed at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined.
The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V322000 (Exterior Lighting); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
My 2022 toyota tundra was part of an engine replacement recall. The original engine was replaced Oct 3 2025 at around 38,200 miles. The replacement engine broke down while driving on the street (could have happened on the freeway) on October 10 2026 at around 50k miles. Im waiting on how toyota will solve this problem.
The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while driving. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle long distance. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be inspected.
Radar/adaptive cruise control was not engaged. I immediately took the truck to Western Slope Toyota. Technicians checked for codes, performed multiple road tests and recorded vehicle data but could not reproduce the intermittent failure. The issue was escalated to Toyota technical assistance under TAS [ref].
REPEATED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE / FAILED RECALL REMEDY. My 2022 Toyota Tundra suffered a complete engine seizure and sudden loss of motive power August 30, 2026, creating an immediate traffic hazard.
