What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The air bag warning indicator illuminated, but they did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the body shop at an independent dealer and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
"takata recall" I was driving on scott street, when another driver ran the red light on the intersection and hit my car on the passenger side towards the back passenger door, and the airbag didn't deploy.
The air bag failed to deploy. The contact sustained back injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,647.
Re: parking brake. In dec 2013, my 2010 vw jetta tdi rolled backwards with the parking brake fully engaged. It hit another stationary vehicle; thankfully there were no injuries except to the two cars. I had brought in the vehicle to the dealer in feb 2013 with the concern that the parking brake was not secure.
I have been driving manual transmission cars since 1975, and I was upset that my car was stalling either just starting out in first or in the lower rpm range of the lower gears when turning and moving through intersections or trying to go uphill when the rpms were in the lower range.
While parking a jetta 2010, the car was almost stopped then rapidly accelerated. Brake was on, but the car accelerated extremely fast, could not stop the vehicle. The vehicle slammed into a brick wall. The airbags did not deploy.
The driver was wearing her seatbelt. The front-passenger side of the other vehicle crashed into the rear-driver side of the vehicle in an off set rear end impact. I called vw of north america as the seat belt did not lock to prevent the driver from hitting the steering wheel.
High pressure fuel pump failure caused car to stall at highway speed, ~[address] with dead car caused a minor fender bender. Being told fuel system repair is $8700 but will likely be covered under warranty. I wish to remain anonymous. 2010 vw jetta tdi sportwagen, dsg transmission, 3292 mi.
