During the incident, multiple warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including a message indicating: “Service Steering System.” My vehicle sustained minimal damage due to its height (a bent side step), however the other vehicle sustained damage. Police responded to the scene and a report was filed.
The infotainment system on this 2024 GMC Hummer EV fails during driving in a way that creates a safety hazard. The system controls the rearview camera, drive mode display, turn signal audio feedback, charging and range information, climate controls, and all audible warnings.
POWER STEERING: Diagnostic code U0131 00 was found - Loss Communication with Power Steering Control Module. Dealer traced the fault to loose ground bolts G176 and G177 at the power steering control module. Technician was able to turn the bolts 1/4 to 1/2 turn to tighten them.
There was water found on the floorboard and dashboard, accompanied by a foul odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the engineers inspected and cleaned the drains and seals. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time, where the drains and seals were cleaned a second time.
When I parked the vehicle and exited no warning lights or other items were shown on the dash. Once I got back in the vehicle, a MIL light was lit and the "Service Brake Assist" message was displayed. With the vehicle running, it would not move either forward or reverse.

The frunk latch on the vehicle becomes faulty and does not recognize the hood being latched and secure when it is. While driving, the vehicle without warning will immediately limit speed to 26mph regardless of existing vehicle speed.
Suddenly, the vehicle started vibrating violently and started rolling into the intersection. I pressed on the brake pedal but the vehicle continued to vibrate and the vehicle rolled into the middle of the adjoining lane of traffic. There was no traffic on the roadway and no other vehicles were affected.
