We had the 2025 Tacoma in the prior week due to my complaints that the lane assist was not working properly and the screen did not respond to my touch to turn it on. After the fatal accident, ISP removed the black box to download information for the accident report. I am now waiting for isp report.
During the crash, no air bags in the vehicle deployed, the collision avoidance systems did not operate, and twelve error messages were activated, including a brake error, a Four Wheel Drive error, and an ABS error.
While driving on a dry, clearly marked two-lane highway in Montana, I had Lane Tracing Assist and Active Lane Keep/Track Assist turned on. My hands were on the steering wheel, speed was within the limit, and visibility was clear. The truck unexpectedly steered itself out of the lane toward the right-side guard rail.
I own a 2025 Toyota Tacoma, and the interior driver’s door handle assembly has failed, preventing me from opening the driver’s door normally from inside the vehicle. The failure occurred at around 11000 miles during normal use without any accident, impact, or unusual force.
Inner door handle broke under normal use and toyota cant replace this due to mass failures across the country in all 4th generation tacomas. Mass backorders. I have been driving for at least 2 months with no way to exit my vehicle in case of emergency.
In addition, the internal door handle was fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the internal door mechanism had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed.
The driver door handle internal mechanism broke under normal operation, preventing exit from the vehicle. This is a serious safety issue because the driver is literally trapped in the vehicle, unless they roll the window down and engage the handle from the outside, or crawl over the center console to the passenger…
Harsh, hard shifts — primarily 1st-to-2nd and 2nd-to-3rd — on cold starts. The transmission slams into gear with a noticeable jolt/lurch of the vehicle. Occurs when the powertrain is cold; diminishes as it warms up. No warning lights and no diagnostic trouble codes stored.
