What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
The tire blew out. We hit the center divider on the freeway. All the stuff from the back flew forward and hit me in the head. It almost broke my neck and back. I suffer from brain damage (tbi) now because of this. I chevy came out. Wrote a report. Gave it to the owner of the van.
While driving at approximately 60 mph, the front driver side tire blew out and caused the contact to crash into a wall four times. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact and a passenger sustained unknown injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed.
The air bag warning light illuminated and failed to deploy. The contact did not need medical attention immediately, but did receive medical attention two days later due to unknown injuries sustained in the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a police yard and was neither inspected or repaired.
Just before Falcon Cove state park as we were going up a hill and people were braking to turn into the park, my spouse yelled "we have no brakes". The brakes were hard as a wall and he was using both feet to get us to slow down. I could not feel us slowing. It was utterly terrifying.
Exhaust manifold bolts are breaking causing exhaust fumes to leak in to engine compartment. Fumes then enter the cabin. First bolt broke at 70,000 miles and the. Another at 120,000 miles.
The vehicle temporarily loses power and power steering. The stabilitrack and steering assist indicators appears on dashboard. Sometimes the power returns, other times I will have to put the vehicle in park, reposition key, and restart the engine.
We have had 2 chevy express 1500 vans catch fire to the driver door from a faulty window switch. Similiar to a previous gm suv recall: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/08/07/gm-suv-window-switch-recall-fire-hazard-park-outside/ this has happened once while the vehicle was in motion and another time while the vehicle was…
Not sure I have this under the right "affected parts", I purchased a new van, had driven my prev van 238,000+ miles so I know how to use mirrors, however, the split mirrors on these new vans do not allow you to see properly backing up & I found this to be a danger.
