What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Vehicle failed to stop and lurched forward into pedestrians. Condition replicates the abs failures in similar vehicles that are under recall; dealer indicated this vehicle was not part of recall but has same issue.
The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility where the mechanic advised that the brake lines were rusted and corroded. One of the brake lines had fractured at the rear driver side wheel. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance.
Vehicle regularly stalls while driving, going down hills and any random time at highway speeds, while in traffic, while stopped at traffic controls. This problem happens repeatedly and is apparently related to the âpump mounted driverâ, which is prone to failure due to inadequate design for the use and…
First time the brake failure occurred was in the driveway. My son, a newly licensed driver was taking the vehicle to school when he came back into the house and said the brakes on the truck don't feel right and the pedal goes to the floor.
The contact was informed that the power steering pump and filter would have to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 05v005000 (power train: drive line: drive shaft). The failure and current mileages were 117,000.
The contact stated that there was rust on the frame of the vehicle. The dealer was contacted but advised that they were unfamiliar with the failure as the contact described. The vehicle was not inspected for the failure nor repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 56,000.
The contact stated they had to replace the interior door handle fifteen times and the passenger side handle twice. The contact stated the barrel where the spring mounted around the handle broke. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the entire door locking mechanism and door handle were replaced.
We have purchased a chevy 3500hd dump truck. We have known this truck for a few years and the brake lights have been stuck on and no signals for two years. We were told about the recall for the multi-function switch for other 2000 truck models, I.e. The 2000 blazer, because of this situation.
