What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Son was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which he hit a cement truck head on and the vehicle airbags did not deploy. The entire front end of the vehicle was damaged (smashed in) and the vehicle subsequently totaled out.
The dealer made the repairs however approximately 24 hours later the vehicle overheated. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. They stated that the engine was low on coolant and they stated the engine needed to be burped. The failure mileage was 27,000 and current mileage was 42,994.
A vehicle pulled directly across my path while I was traveling approximately 45 mph, resulting in a t-bone collision. My vehicle was totaled. Somehow, my airbags did not deploy.
Low headlights (both) are off continuually. High beams are ok, no matter which position dash headlight switch is in. High beams come on with steering column control, but not low beams. Replaced relays and fuses although originals checked ok..
While driving approximtaley 25 mph at night, the low beam and high beam headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and parked at a safe location until the next day. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the headlamp driver module was replaced.
For the next five weeks the check engine light was on and the gauge only worked occasionally. It wasn't a dangerous situation but after a few weeks of guessing how much gas was in it, I took it to a repairman who replaced the fuel pump module assembly for a mere $767.04. The odometer is only at 47,760.
Headlight fail - they intermittently turn off by themselves while driving and eventually turn back on. This happens very often and I am very afraid of my safety and also of my family.
The contact stated that while the vehicle was being serviced by an independent mechanic, the front driver side door suddenly caught fire. A police report was not filed. The contact extinguished the fire and there were no injuries. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v599000 (visibility).
