*takata recall * my brother died as a result of a mva april 2016. He was driving his green chevy yukon on hwy 5 in lancaster,sc headed toward rock hill sc when the car traveling the opposite direction crossed the center line and drove straight into my brothers' path.
My 1999 chevrolet tahoe's vin # is not covered under a recently issued recall (campaign # 05v379000). The exact symptoms of my braking problem match the reason for the recall and yet my vehicle is not covered.
After rear-ending another vehicle at 40mph air bags failed to deploy.
Windshield wipers failed to come on. Then will start or may not start.
We were driving at approximately 65mph with the a/c on and the satellite radio on. This incident has happened in the past and we knew that the ecmb fuse had blown. We replaced the blown fuse and the vehicle restarted with no problems. We were about 2 miles out of the tunnel when the vehicle lost power again.
The windshield wipers worked intermittently. The dealer stated that it was the circuit board. Consumer filed complaint because vehicle was not covered under the recall with vehicles witht the same problem.
