Tl contact owns a 1995 chrysler lebaron convertible. While the contact was driving approximately 40 mph the front driver and passenger side air bags involuntarily deployed. There were minor injuries. Metal fatigue in the door panel where the hings connects to the body of the car .door brakes away where hings connects leaving unable to close securely.as a former sale manager for a dealership in calif . I brought this to the attention of chrysler . Corporation .after speaking to three people .
Driver door hinge attachment plate on drivers side bottom sunk into door and in turn the door bent over so when opening the door, it pushes the rear of the front fender in and damaged the driver door side. It is now happening on the passenger side and soon will be unable to open either door to get in.
I've owned this car for 5 months and it has been nother but problems for me. I understand that when buying a used vehicle there is always risk involved, but at 50,000 miles (which is what I bought it at) there should not be that many expensive problems in 5 months!
Door hinges broke from the weld plate which is attach to the metal structure of the body. Manufacturer notified and informed consumer that vehicle was out of its warranty, and any repairs would be at owner's cost. Please feel free to provide any further details.
