What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
I was driving around town and my air bag light came on. Now the steering wheel kinda clunks when you turn it and is stiff when making turns. Since this has happen my horn nor my cruise control works. Contacted chrysler and my vin isn't in the recall for air bag issues. Seems unsafe
The following recall is for year 2007 models. My 2001 chrysler sebring sedan anti lock brake system (abs) unit/module is broken and needs to be replaced. I think the recall 06v493000 should apply to older models as well.
My car started making this incredible squeaking sound every time I turned by steering wheel to the left or right. The squeaking started in mid-january of this year (2014) I have had my car checked by 2 professional mechanics and was told by both that my ball joints were defective and had to be replaced.
The contact stated that while waiting at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled and every light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact restarted the vehicle and the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle needed four quarts of oil.
The dash, radio, & cd player lights flash off and on intermittently. This occurs on random occasions, but seems to happen more often in wet weather. It also happens when operating the turn signal. The lights will dim low and will not return to a "normal" brightness until you adjust the turn signal arm.
2001 chrysler sebring lxi no horn, no cruise control, and air bag deactivated (light on) all three of these issues are due to a defective clock spring part# 4649092ac by chrysler corp. They had this same issue with their late 90's to early 2000 mini van's.
