What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
Frontal collision impact 12:00 position, speed 35 mph, lap/shoulder belt on driver did not retract causing injuries. Tt
Front passenger door popped open upon impact; driver/passenger motorized shoulder belts did not hold occupants; passenger's head went thru windshield; totalled.
The vehicle stalled with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer advised that the transfer casing needed to be replaced.
A couple of days later, he inspected the vehicle and noticed that all of the oil leaked out. More oil was placed into the vehicle, but leaked out immediately afterwards. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and they stated that the transfer case was defective.
While driving 35 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate. The contact examined the vehicle and noticed that the tread separated from the front driver's side and rear passenger side tires. The dealer stated that the failure was normal wear for the age of the tires. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 30,000.
Transfer case leaked oil, and blewout rear differential. Vehicle was apart of nhtsa recall 98-v-069-002/ manufacturer's recall 780 in 1998. Dealer was aware that work was performed by an independent dealer.
My car engine was blown at 48,600 miles due to a valve coming apart and a piston going through the engine. The most ironic part of this is that it happened 7 days after the expiration of my 7 year 70,000 mile extended warranty that I purchased when I bought the car.
While driving hood flew up & back towards windshield. Windshield was badly damaged, and interfered with driver's vision. Pulled vehicle to side of road. Hood latch was faulty & failed to keep hood down. There was no prior warning of a problem.
