What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
I have experienced seizing of the brakes in mu 2004 fleetwood fiesta. It is my understanding that there is already a recall on this problem. The problem did not present until this year. The rv has very low miles, but was taken care of and in excellent condition.
With 29, 000 miles on the coach and driving at 50 mph on a highway the front brakes heated up and then all braking failed. (pedal to the floor w/ no braking). Had to be towed and replaced the whole front brakes, rotors, calipers, master cylinder and booster $5500.00 later and 11 days in a hotel w/ rental car
The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the front brakes overheated, failed, and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.
The contact stated that the brake calipers were overheating and caused the brakes to slip. The contact had to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road overnight and then slowly drive home. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
It came with a full 25 gal propane tank. Due to the limited use of this type of vehicle, filling was not often. I went to fill the tank in december 2010 and was unable to, due to the mounting of the tank by the manufacturer. The tank is slightly too high and no standard approved fill nozzle will fit the tank.
Their evaluation found that the pedal linkage as well as the calipers had corrosion causing binding. They recommended cleaning and lubricating the linkage and calipers as well as flushing , refilling and bleeding the system. I authorized the work at a final cost of $800.
