What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
This intentional data manipulation was used to knowingly bypass active safety recall alerts.SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:In March 2026, while traveling on [XXX], the front suspension suffered an unexplained, catastrophic failure, resulting in an immediate, total loss of steering control.
We have a video of the incident from our ring camera: [XXX] My daughter pulled our 2022 Bronco Sport out of our driveway onto [XXX] and then made a right turn onto [XXX] After completing the turn, my daughter said the car pulled to the right like the lane assist kicked in and locked and would not allow her to turn the…
At approximately 7:00 p.m., it was already dark, and I relied on my vehicle’s rear parking-aid sensor to assist me while backing out of my driveway. However, the rear collision/parking-aid sensor did not activate and provided no audible or visual warnings.
The rear warning system stops working intermittently especially when the rear hatch thinks it’s open. So I ended up backing into another vehicle because I have neck issues and depend on the safety systems of my car.
Air bags failed to deploy when the car hit a tree. Issue has not be reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Vehicle has been inspected by claims adjuster only. There were no messages or symptoms of an issue prior to failure.
Then I remember abruptly seeing brake lights ahead, braking hard, and the collision warning system going off. I was braking for several seconds and it became clear to me that I was going to crash into the vehicle in front of me. Immediately upon impact, my Bronco Sport caught fire. I felt the heat.
There were no warning lights illuminated. A police report was filed. There was no airbag deployment or fire. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 5, 000.
The air bags did not deploy, and as a result, the driver was thrust forward into the steering wheel. No warning lights were illuminated. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported.
