What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
On June 13, 2025 my 2022 Ford Bronco and was involved in a serious collision in which the airbags did not deploy, the emergency braking and forward collision warning did not activate either. The second vehicle was t-boned at an estimated speed at the point of impact was 45mph. Both vehicles were a total loss.
Meaning there was a powertrain malfunction so [dealer], which caused the vehicle to not restart and in addition to it not restarting, the vehicle also didn't have brakes, so it simply rolled backwards without any control until I hit a tree to stop me.
The other vehicle had damage to the passenger side taillight and to the rear passenger panel which had been dented by the contact's bumper. The police were called, the other vehicle was not occupied at the time of the crash, and a report had been written.
No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on the Mobile App, she was notified that the power steering assist had failed, along with other unknown messages. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and was then towed to a body shop. A Police report was filed. The contact had not sustained any injuries.
The contact stated that the vehicle was never serviced for the recall, and the failure remained present, causing the vehicle to lose power and to stall while driving. The failure mileage was 8,000.
The contact stated that the vehicle shuddered on cold starts for up to 10 minutes, and the check engine warning light illuminated while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions, where the check engine warning light was reset; however, the failure recurred.
If lane assist is also active and a sudden steer is necessary, the combination of steering assembly problem and fighting the lane assist requires a tremendous amount of strength. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure
My vehicle has had two misfires and the check engine light came on twice. I brought it to quirk ford in Quincy mass and they said ford has not found a solution for this recall which has been years for this recall. My vehicle putters when I start it and has a skunk aroma when I shut it off
