What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
My lcf dump truck began idling a bit irradically. Driving the truck at about 40 mph it began to sputter and lose power, until the engine turned off completely leaving me stranded on the road. I opened up the primary fuel filter and found it to be caked with a silver metallic material.
The truck has stalled on the road at 40 mph several times this year. After the stall is will not restart, needs towed. I have over 18,000 in repairs over the past few years. It is at the ford dealership and need injectors and oil pressure pump again. Ford will not warranty this constant problem.
Our 2006 ford lcf runs very rough, and stalls while moving. Ford dealership said the fuel tank is delaminating inside, causing the fuel injectors to fail. Apparently this has been going on for the last couple of years. We've replaced several fuel injectors over that time. The cost to fix this (from ford) is 5,000.00.
We purchase the ford lcf in april of 2006 and had our first fuel pump replacement in feb. Of 2007 at just over 14,000 miles. Luckily the first replacement was under warranty, since the first repair/replacement we have had the truck down for similar related items to fuel pump 7 times.
The contact was driving approximately 65 mph when the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted after waiting twenty minutes and was taken to an authorized dealer ten times for the similar defect and repaired each time under the service warranty.
The contact attempted to "jump start" the vehicle; however, it would not start. I had taken the truck to an authorized dealer for repairs. They state that the vehicle is not under the warranty so I have to pay for it.
They said we needed to replace the fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel filters. The dealership said that this was caused by putting in diesel fuel that had trace amounts of biofuel.
The vehicle stalled and would not restart. The dealer changed the new ficm that came with the new engine because it was not done when the engine was first replaced. The dealer then found the number 2 and 6 fuel injectors had failed.
